Closing Frontiers Health: A Strategic Partnership and the Future of Connected Care

37

By Ervin Ukaj, CEO

As the lights go down on Frontiers Health 2025 in Berlin, I am left with a profound sense of momentum.

“What a week” is an understatement. Frontiers Health has always been more than a conference; it is a catalyst. It is where the abstract concepts of digital health are forged into concrete realities. This year, for Newel Health, that reality took the form of a major step forward in how we serve the pharmaceutical industry.

The Panel: When Software Meets Hardware

I had the privilege of speaking on the panel “When Software Meets Hardware Meets Pharma: The Future of Patient-Centric Care.”

Expertly moderated by Paul Tunnah (CCI Life Sciences) and shared with industry heavyweights Mithun Ratnakumar (Gerresheimer) and Stephane Wolf (Boehringer Ingelheim), the discussion went straight to the heart of the industry’s current challenge.1

We compared the unique DNA of each sector:

  • Pharma brings the biology and the therapeutic molecule.
  • Medtech brings the delivery device and precision engineering.
  • Digital Health brings the behavioral intelligence, data, and engagement.2

For the past few years, these three pillars have often struggled to align. But the consensus on stage was clear: we have moved past the “hype cycle” of fragmentation. We are entering an era of deep integration, driven by a shared need to deliver outcomes, not just products.

The Announcement: Newel Health x Gerresheimer

Frontiers Health was the perfect stage to announce that we are putting this philosophy into practice.

I am proud to officially announce our partnership with Gerresheimer.

This is not just a collaboration; it is a complete ecosystem solution. By combining Gerresheimer’s leadership in connected devices with Newel Health’s expertise in digital therapeutics and AI, we are offering pharma a unique value proposition:

  • Design & Build: Creating AI-powered digital medical devices and connected drug delivery systems.
  • Legal Manufacturer Role: Newel Health steps in to handle the regulatory complexity from clinical trials all the way to market access.
  • Patient & Clinician Centricity: Ensuring that while the device captures data (digital endpoints), the software keeps the patient engaged and the clinician informed.

Gratitude and The Road Ahead

Partnerships rely on people, not just contracts.

On a personal note, I want to thank Daniel Diezi and Mithun Ratnakumar for their trust and vision. We are building something that will fundamentally change how therapies are delivered and monitored.

A massive thank you to Roberto Ascione and the EVERSANA team. Once again, you worked your magic, creating a space that moves the industry from conversation to action. The energy was extraordinary.

Finally, to the Newel Health team—specifically Silja-Riin Voolma, Ph.D., PierPaolo Iagulli, and Raffaele Aulisio, who represented us with excellence in Berlin—and to the entire team working behind the scenes: thank you.

We leave Berlin tired but inspired. The path is clear, and the partners are in place.

Ad maiora semper.
